FMBA Local #21 is Committed to the City of Clifton

FMBA Local #21 believes in having a strong relationship with the community.

Annually we are involved in many community events:

Fire Prevention week, the week of October 8th each year, we make presentations to elementary schools, preschools, and day care centers throughout the City.  This year the FMBA sponsored and paid for the 10,000 Fire Prevention Coloring books that will be distributed throughout the city, saving taxpayers approximately $4200.00 this year. In addition, Local 21 started the annual fire prevention poster contest in 1990. Each year we have awarded $600 in US Savings bonds to the winners.

On October 12th we will be participating in a food drive in conjunction with the Clifton Rotary Club.  All 6 fire stations will accept food donations that will be delivered to a barn on the City Hall property to eventually be distributed to needy Clifton residents.

Each Thanksgiving day for the last 5 years we have teamed up with the local IHOP to prepare and serve meals to seniors that may be alone or those less fortunate. This event is held in the Clifton Seniors Center on city hall property.

Since 1998, each holiday season, Local 21 has participated in the Toys for Tots program sponsored by the United States Marine Corps Reserve.  Each firehouse is a drop off point for toys.

Sponsor a Clifton Midget League baseball team during the Spring Time.

For the past two years, members of Local 21 have participated in the Muscular Dystrophy Association “Fill the Boot” drive.  We are proud to have collected over $11,000 for MDA.

Since the 1980’s, firefighters have participated in Safety Town.  This is a two-week program, held during the summer months for children that will be entering kindergarten.  We are involved in teaching fire prevention and safety lessons to the children, which is capped off with a fire station tour.

Provide tours and Tower Ladder rides during Youth Week each year.

We participate in City parades.  We also have an open door policy for visitors to the six fire stations.   Additionally, we make monetary donations to many other organizations.

We are a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Clifton Rotary Club

Each year since 1990, during the month of May, Clifton Firefighters have sponsored an annual Health and Safety Fair for children. This event has received awards from state organizations in 1990, 1993, 1996, 1997, and 1999.

Members of Local 21, take time off from work each spring to chaperone the Clifton Board of Education annual safety patrol trip to Washington, DC.

Participate and chaperone in Project Graduation each June for Clifton High School

Participate in the Annual alcohol free Super Bowl Party held at the High School.
